Cures and treatments – hot and cool

After a long day on the ski slopes a hot sauna is exactly what you need. It is relaxing and refreshing at the same time.

The word sauna comes from Finland where this form of bathing was invented. Nowadays the fireplaces of those times have been replaced by electric stoves covered with pieces of stones, while the rooms are completely made of wood. Pouring water on the hot stones creates steam, thus making the air feel hotter. A modern sauna is heated up to 60 – 90° Celsius. Eight to fifteen minutes in the heat is considered healthy. After that, you should go outside for a few minutes, have a cold shower and then relax.
A sauna can have multiple positive effects on your body: it strengthens your immune system, improves your blood circulation, stimulates the regeneration of your muscles and relaxes your body completely. Today many hotels in the Dolomites have a sauna and some towns have their own public sauna as well.
