The mirror-like bodies of water in the Dolomites are little gems that reflect the impressiveness and majesty of the immense mountains that surround them.
During hikes, it’s not uncommon to run into small ponds hidden among the tall spires of the Dolomites. Water, woods and mountain peaks paint landscapes that cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
The enchanting Lake Braies – Pragser Wildsee , with its turquoise reflections is the pearl of mountain lakes in South Tyrol, while Lake Carezza - Karersee, and its splendid blue-turquoise water always charms the observer.
On Lake Dobbiaco , with its blue-green reflections, you can go bowling on ice in the winter or take a boat trip in the summer.
On the shores of Lake Landro you can admire a magnificent view of the Cristallo mountain group.
The splendid Lake Federa, at the foot of the Croda da Lago peak, is located in front of Becco del Mezzodì and offers one of the most stirring views in the Dolomites.
Piz Popena, Cristallino, Tre Cime and Sorapis - some of the most beautiful peaks in the Dolomites - form the backdrop for the majestic Lake Misurina, while the great Monte Civetta is mirrored in Lake Alleghe.
No less important and suggestive are the mountain ponds wedged between the peaks, such as the Coldai Pond in the Civetta group, Lakes Lusia and Gronton hidden in the Bocche chain, and Lakes Ghedina and Grande de Fosses at Cortina.
