The Val di Sole occupies the north western extremity of Trentino and stretches from Passo del Tonale (on the border with Lombardy) to the entrance of Valle di Non in the east. The tourist district includes two side valleys, Pejo and Rabbi. The area lies between an altitude of 700 metres at the bottom of the valley to over 3,500 metres on the glaciers. The valley is surrounded by the Brenta, Adamello, Presanella and Ortles-Cevedale mountain groups and about a third of its territory is an integral part of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park and Stelvio National Park. The Trentino section of the national park includes the upper valleys of Pejo and Rabbi which have an extremely interesting ecology and wildlife as well as a very attractive landscape.
Water is another dominating feature of the countryside in the Sole, Pejo and Rabbi valleys. The river Noce flowing along the bottom of the valley is ideal for lovers of canoeing, kayaking and rafting and the Val di Rabbi and Val di Pejo waters have therapeutic properties which have favored the development of spas.
Tourism has become an important source of income for the area with a wide range of accommodation and recreational facilities.
