Val Rendena, situated in western Trentino, stretches from Passo di Campo Carlo Magno (which connects Rendena to Valle di Sole) to Tione. The valley is bounded to the east by the Brenta Dolomites and is separated from Lombardy, in the west, by the Adamello Group and Presanella. These two majestic mountain groups give the valley a really spectacular setting in which the Adamello glaciers and the unmistakable peaks of the Brenta Dolomites stand out. Mountains that, despite their size and range, are far from inaccessible; a widespread network of paths enables you to reach the many refuges situated also at high altitudes. The Doss Sabion summit offers a magnificent panoramic view to the curved ridges of the Brenta Dolomites, rounded off by the gently sloping hills of Adamello and Madonna di Campiglio. However, the Val Rendena is not also famous for its scenic beauty but also for its historical and cultural heritage. In Pinzolo, the center of the valley, there is the church of San Vigilio, one of the most important monuments in Trentino; its southern wall was frescoed with allegoric scenes by Simone Baschenis in the 16th century.
