Celebrating in old town centres
Enjoy a cold beer and a typical meal at one of the traditional town celebrations and participate in the fun!
The Dolomites are not only about hiking and mountain biking, but also about entertainment and having fun. A number of old town centres in the Dolomites host traditional celebrations every two years with different music bands, shows and exhibitions. Local associations such as the sports clubs or farmers unions organize the food stalls, beer stands and all kinds of entertainment. It all takes place in the narrow alleyways and open squares of the picturesque old town centres and typical dishes, delicious local wines and refreshing beers are served at every corner. The highlight of this year’s festivities is the old town celebration in Bressanone/Brixen (link only in German) from 25th to 27th of August. It is one of the oldest events and more than sixty associations take part. The Bolzano/Bozen old town celebration took place last year, so the next edition will only be held again in September 2007. However, very close to the Dolomites Merano/Meran hosts its own town festival from 12th to 13th of August. In Trento an autumn festival takes place from 22nd to 24th, 29th to 30th of September and on 10th of October. Each weekend celebrates a different theme and offers a variety of delicious products to taste. If you don’t mind mingling with the crowds, these events are definitely the place to be!
