Customs and traditions

The „Museo degli Usi e Costumi della Gente Trentina“ is a museum which depicts the customs and traditions of the people who live in the mountains.

The museum is located in San Michele/Mezzocorona and was founded by Giuseppe Šebesta in 1968. From the very start it was created as a centre of the Trentino culture and as a place where history, the different dialects and the folklore can be studied.

The five floors of the museum are dedicated to life in the mountains as it used to be: the visitors, young and old alike, can explore and discover the customs of the past. They get to know how the inhabitants of the valleys and mountains in Trentino once built their houses, what the kitchens looked like, what they used to wear, what they ate and which tools they used.
